Hot Buttered Rum
This rich, satisfying and flavourful drink is basically comfort in a mug. How could you say no to sugar, spice, and warm melted butter?
Ingredients:
12 T. Unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp. Vanilla paste or extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Ground ginger
1/4 tsp. Ground nutmeg
Sea salt
Apple Cider (1/2 cup per drink)
Dark rum (3 T. Per drink)
Cinnamon sticks
Whipped cream or ice cream for serving (optional)
Using a fork, mash together the softened butter with the vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Warm the apple cider. In each mug, add 3T. of rum, topped with 1/2 cup cider and stir in a tablespoon of butter. Add a cinnamon stick, dollop with whipped cream or ice cream (optional) and serve.
Holiday Cranberry Sangria
Wine is one of the go-to drinks to enjoy in the hot tub. This sangria is filled with citrus, cranberries and hints of cinnamon. The best part about this drink is that you can make it ahead of time and leave it in the fridge.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons agave nectar
1/4 cup brandy
1/2 cup cranberry juice
1 orange, halved and then sliced
2 limes, sliced
1/2 cup whole frozen cranberries
2 sticks of cinnamon
1 bottle of dry red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)
1 cup seltzer water
rosemary sprigs for garnish
Add agave nectar, brandy, orange, lime, agave nectar, cinnamon sticks, cranberry and wine together in large pitcher. Cover and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Add seltzer water to sangria mixture right before serving. Pour over ice. (Joyful Health Eats)
