How Much Does It Cost to Fill Your Pool?

Chances are at some point in your life you’ve told your family, or been told by your family not to leave the lights on or to waste water unnecessarily. Although filling up a pool isn’t a waste of water, it can be intimidating having to pay for 13,000 gallons of water in one go. Here’s a handy chart for calculating how much money you’re spending on filling up your pool or spa.

Calculating Your Pool Size

You can use this handy chart from Swim University.

Once you’ve determined your pool size, you can just multiply it by the average cost per gallon of water wherever you live. The average cost of water per gallon in Canada is approximately $0.02.

How Long Does it Take To Fill A Pool

A standard garden hose releases approximately nine gallons of water per minute. That works out to about 540 gallons per hour. If you’ve got a 13,000 gallon pool, it would take about 24 hours to fill your pool.

It’s recommended that you don’t use the pool until it’s been treated and you can see the bottom clearly.
