Portable Hot Tubs vs Traditional Hot Tubs

Portable Hot Tubs vs Traditional Hot Tubs

A lot of potential spa owners these days are asking themselves which way to go in regards of portable hot tubs vs traditional tot tubs? Some people consider buying traditional inground models while others are sure they’d prefer the portable type.

If you’re thinking of installing one inground you’ll be glad to know that it’s a lot easier than putting in a swimming pool, but it still takes a bit of preparation and work. But before deciding which way to go it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with both types of hot tubs and look over the advantages of each type.

Hot tub versatility
There’s no doubt that portable hot tubs are more versatile since they can be installed in a wide variety of locations. These models are popular both indoors and outdoors as they can be placed above ground, sunk down into the ground, and be built right into an outside deck. Inground hot tubs are also quite versatile when it comes to choosing the size and shape, but they need to be installed outside somewhere in your yard. You’ll also need to designate a small area for the equipment.

Hot tub maintenance
When it comes to maintaining your hot tub you’ll find that it’s quite easy to care for and maintain the water in portable hot tub models due to the advancements in filtration systems. It’s recommended that you keep the tub covered when it’s not in use as this will help keep the heat in the water and will also help to keep dust and debris out of it. Since portable hot tubs are made with acrylic shells they tend to be more comfortable and gentler on your skin than inground models and the shells are easier to keep clean. Portable tubs also come equipped with quick-drain options as well as relatively long warranties.

Both types of hot tubs require the same amount of time, energy and care when it comes to balancing the water chemicals, but they’re generally a bit harder to keep clean. But on the plus side, if the inground spa is connected to your swimming pool you won’t have to drain it and this can cut down on overall maintenance time. However, you’ll still need to make sure you keep the swimming pool clean and well maintained.

Advanced hydrotherapy
The jets in portable hot tubs are often specifically placed and are highly-specialized. The ergonomic seating options in the spa are made to comfortably accommodate users of varying heights and sizes and there are typically several options when it comes to lounge seating. Because of this, it’s easier for users to target a specific part of their body for hydrotherapy. With inground hot tubs, they basically use standard jets which come in a single size. You will be able to choose where to place the jets, but the hydrotherapy massage effect isn’t as varied as it is with portable hot tubs.

Each type of hot tub as its attractive features and it’s a good idea to try out both styles in person before purchasing one. If you’re looking for an indoor tub then your mind will be made up for you as you’ll need a portable unit. However, if you’d like to place the tub outside it will come down t a personal decision on which type is preferred by you and your family.
